Epson, a renowned player in the printing industry, commemorated its 40th anniversary in Australia with a grand celebration that included the inauguration of a new head office in North Sydney and the introduction of a range of innovative printers. The company’s journey in Australia began four decades ago with a modest team of 20 members. It gained prominence in the commercial print sector in the late 1990s by revolutionizing the industry with its wide format, full-color, inkjet print systems. These cutting-edge technologies significantly enhanced productivity, efficiency, and turnaround times for local print businesses, marking a new era in the printing landscape.
Over the years, Epson has emerged as a key player in various printing segments such as graphic arts, photo printing, sign and display, textiles, promotional merchandise, and technical drawings, among others. With a current workforce of approximately 150 employees in Australia, the company has cemented its position as a leader in the print industry. Craig Heckenberg, the Managing Director of Epson Australia, emphasized the company’s long-term vision and commitment to stability, highlighting its strong foothold in the print market. Heckenberg proudly stated that Epson commands a 40% market share globally in wide format inkjet systems, a testament to its industry influence and innovation.
Epson’s success in the Australian market can be attributed to its precision engineering and advanced color management capabilities, catering to the color-critical and time-sensitive demands of sectors like graphic arts, technical printing, and textiles. With a growing trend towards customization and personalization in printing, Epson has continuously evolved its product offerings to meet the changing needs of the market. Gordon Kerr, the Product Marketing Manager at Epson, elaborated on the diverse range of printers offered by the company, addressing a wide spectrum of applications across 12 different markets with 50 distinct models and eight ink types.
