Epson, a prominent player in the printing industry, recently announced its market leadership in large format printing in Australia, boasting a significant 40% market share in units sold. This declaration was made by Craig Heckenberg, the Managing Director of Epson Australia and New Zealand, at an event held at the company’s new headquarters in North Sydney.
Heckenberg expressed enthusiasm about Epson’s new chapter in Australia, highlighting the company’s move to North Sydney after two decades in Macquarie Park. He emphasized the importance of this transition as a strategic step towards further solidifying Epson’s legacy in the country. Acknowledging the contributions of customers and business partners, Heckenberg credited them for Epson’s remarkable achievements in the region.
Discussing market performance, Heckenberg revealed that Epson holds a commendable 18% market share in commercial printing, securing the third position in the market. He also noted Epson’s leadership in ink tank printers, particularly with the innovative eco tank product launched in 2010. Heckenberg highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to encourage customers to embrace high-capacity ink bottles over traditional cartridges.
Epson’s involvement in the large format printing sector dates back to the late 1990s, offering a diverse range of products catering to various businesses, including graphics arts, technical, sign and display, and textiles. Heckenberg pointed out a growing trend in personalized and customized products, leading to smaller print jobs and creating opportunities for smaller businesses. To address this shift, Epson introduced a range of compact printers tailored for micro production environments.
The company also unveiled Craft Studio, a new software designed to streamline operations and maintenance across multiple devices for businesses in need of compact printing solutions. Craft Studio’s versatility extends to various applications such as photo books, merchandise, t-shirts, and signage, catering to the evolving needs of the market.
