Sublimation paper is a specialty product used for transferring images onto garments or sublimation treated products such as mugs, hats, and tiles. After an image is printed with sublimation ink on the ‘sublimation paper’, the image can be transferred in full effect using a heat press. When heat and pressure are applied, the dyes in the image convert to a gas. The heat also causes the ‘pores’ of the object being printed on to open. Upon rapid removal of the heat, these ‘pores’ close, trapping the gas which then converts back to a solid, leaving a vibrant, coloured image.
