Ricoh Company, Ltd., Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd., and NTT Anode Energy Corporation have joined forces in a consortium project selected for Japan’s Green Innovation Fund by NEDO. The collaboration aims to advance inkjet-based production technology for perovskite solar cells, along with construction design and electrical systems integration to promote the practical application of these cells in society.
Ricoh, a key partner in the consortium, will spearhead the development of inkjet printing technology for perovskite solar cells. Leveraging its expertise in multifunction printer R&D, Ricoh’s core technologies will enhance energy conversion efficiency and durability, enabling high productivity and cost-effectiveness. The precision of inkjet printing allows for customized sizing and design flexibility, facilitating diverse applications.
Daiwa House Industry’s role in the project involves developing construction and installation technologies for perovskite solar cells on various structures like rooftops and walls. With a track record in implementing renewable energy systems across different facilities, Daiwa House is well-positioned to contribute its expertise to the consortium’s objectives.
NTT Anode Energy, with over 60 years of experience in solar power deployment, will focus on electrical system design for the project. The company’s in-depth knowledge of solar power systems will be instrumental in optimizing module layouts and configurations to address power generation challenges in different installation scenarios.
Post selection by NEDO, the consortium will collaborate with building material manufacturers to ensure the feasibility of large-scale implementation. The project is set to span five years, aiming to establish perovskite solar technology for building-integrated and attached applications by 2030. The consortium targets an annual production capacity exceeding 300 MW and aims to reduce power generation costs significantly.
