Under the Australia Trade Practices Act, it is illegal for Printer Manufacturers to void a warranty based on the choice of ink or toner the consumer chooses to use in their printer. A survey carried out by the Australian Consumers’ Association Choice Magazine surveyed a number of Printer Manufacturers, including Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Cannon. All manufacturers responded that the ‘Printer warranty would NOT be affected by the use of compatibles or refilled cartridges’.

We recommend that the cartridge remain sealed in its packaging until ready for use. We also recommend regular printing (approximately 1 page per week) when the printer isn’t being used regularly.
