HP Inc. recently unveiled its latest innovation in the printing industry with the launch of ‘HP+’, a cutting-edge cloud printing system designed to cater to the evolving needs of consumers and small businesses. In the wake of the pandemic, which significantly reshaped the working landscape, HP recognized the surge in demand for printing solutions as remote work and virtual learning became the new norm.
The introduction of HP+ marks a strategic shift towards a cloud-based ecosystem that aligns with the modern hybrid work models. This new system integrates HP’s latest printer hardware, a subscription service for supplies, and a cloud-based Smart App to facilitate seamless printing from any location at any time. The Smart App, boasting over 48 million active monthly users, offers enhanced connectivity by enabling access to various cloud storage platforms like Google Drive and Dropbox.
HP+ brings forth a range of innovative features aimed at enhancing connectivity and security for users. Smart Security monitoring aids in detecting and preventing malware attacks, while Cloud resiliency ensures automatic detection and resolution of connectivity issues. The system’s native in-OS printing capability allows users to print from multiple devices, and the Private Pickup feature enables convenient printing and retrieval of documents at a later time.
Notably, HP’s commitment to environmental sustainability shines through its Instant Ink subscription service, which promotes the recycling of toner and ink cartridges. With over nine million subscribers, Instant Ink streamlines the process of cartridge replacement by automatically delivering new cartridges when ink levels are low, reducing plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills.
Emphasizing its dedication to sustainability, HP introduced the Forest First printing framework, which focuses on responsible forest management through partnerships with various NGOs. By setting Science-Based Targets and aiming for net-zero deforestation, HP aims to offset its environmental impact and promote a more sustainable approach within the printing industry.
The initial printers launched under the HP+ system include the HP LaserJet M200 Series, HP OfficeJet Pro 8000e and 9000e Series, DeskJet 2700e and 4100e series, and ENVY 6000 and 6400 series. New HP+ customers can enjoy exclusive perks such as a six-month trial of Ink or toner through Instant Ink, an additional year of HP warranty, and a 24-month access to the advanced version of the HP+ app with features like advanced scanning and mobile fax.
Industry experts view HP’s foray into cloud printing as a timely and strategic move that aligns with the evolving needs of modern consumers and businesses. HP’s strong focus on security, trust, and sustainability sets it apart from competitors in the printer market. With its established expertise in cloud services and a robust commitment to environmental responsibility, HP is positioned as a leader driving innovation and positive change in the printing industry.
