Prima PMI, Australia’s major print-on-demand fulfiller, has revealed its plan to enhance its Melbourne facility with the addition of 10 Ricoh 9500 production printers. This move comes after the acquisition of PMI Imageworks in late 2022, prompting an extensive digital press evaluation involving various technologies and formats.
Following a rigorous selection process, Ricoh 9500 was chosen to address space constraints, service levels, and environmental targets. Prima engaged multiple toner manufacturers to propose solutions that met their output requirements, ultimately leading to the deployment of the new Ricoh 9500 printers.
The deployment of the Ricoh 9500 printers will complement Prima’s existing fleet of printers, showcasing a long-standing relationship with Ricoh that has evolved over the years. This latest deployment stands as one of the largest globally and highlights the printer’s enhanced capabilities in adapting to varying stock sizes and achieving a matte finish.
The Ricoh Pro C9500’s innovative fusing unit enables the printing of thin media, a feat that was traditionally challenging for digital presses. This advancement supports the production of books and booklets, catering to the evolving needs of the printing industry.
With features like non-stop printing, continuous paper feeding, and extended output options, the Ricoh Pro C9500 machines are designed to streamline commercial printing operations, ensuring high-speed output and quality consistency.
Prima PMI’s managing director, Amnon Judah, expressed satisfaction with the C9500 units’ production quality, emphasizing the importance of investing in cutting-edge technology to meet growing customer demands. The company’s commitment to sustainability, including becoming carbon neutral by 2030, aligns with Ricoh’s focus on providing eco-friendly solutions.
Mark Moro, Ricoh Australia’s national graphic communications sales manager, reiterated the company’s support for Prima PMI’s growth trajectory, emphasizing the partnership’s focus on delivering innovative solutions and exceptional customer outcomes.
Prima PMI’s transition to renewable energy sources and its investment in energy-efficient printing devices underscore its dedication to environmental responsibility and operational efficiency. The collaboration with Ricoh is expected to drive continued growth and performance for the company in the years ahead.
As Prima PMI continues to expand its digital printing infrastructure, the strategic partnership with Ricoh is poised to provide the necessary performance and features to support future operations effectively. The commitment to innovation and customer success remains at the core of this collaboration between the two industry leaders.
With a shared vision for sustainability and technological advancement, Prima PMI and Ricoh are set to navigate the evolving printing landscape, delivering value-driven solutions and setting new benchmarks for the industry.
