Kamloops Mounties revealed that a recent seizure of guns and 3D printers in Chase was linked to the illicit drug trade in Kamloops, although it was not directly associated with a gang conflict warned about the previous year. The police conducted a search on a residence in Chase, unearthing an assortment of items including firearms, ammunition, body armor, explosives, and 3D printers. According to Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley, the weapons seized have been pivotal in fueling the local drug trade and escalating violent conflicts over the past year.

During a news conference, Pelley emphasized that the weapons seizure is related to the broader drug trade scenario in the region, but not specifically to the clash between gang leaders Cameron Cole and Justin Hunt that had been highlighted in a public warning issued by the police in 2024. He noted that investigations are ongoing, focusing on various individuals involved in drug-related activities. Pelley stressed the efforts made by law enforcement to combat firearm-related offenses and maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes.

He mentioned the impact of violence in the community witnessed a year ago and highlighted the continuous efforts of the Targeted Enforcement Unit, supported by local and provincial resources, to address firearm-related offenses and maintain public safety. Pelley expressed gratitude that there have been no casualties among the general public due to gang violence in the city. He mentioned ongoing efforts to seek charge approvals for several individuals implicated in the drug trade activities.

Cole, who was involved in a previous police raid in 2023 where drugs and guns, including a 3D-printed firearm, were seized, is currently out on bail. In contrast, Hunt is serving a sentence in a Lower Mainland prison on charges from Port Coquitlam. Pelley indicated that the conflict between Hunt and Cole has somewhat subsided compared to the previous year, but updates on the situation will be provided in due course.

No charges have been filed yet in connection with the guns seized in Chase, but investigators are working towards recommending charges to prosecutors. The police continue to monitor the situation closely and remain vigilant in addressing any potential threats posed by illicit activities in the region.
