This unexpected behavior has left many baffled, attributing the issue to a faulty Microsoft update rather than a technical glitch within the printers themselves.

The problematic update in question, known as KB5050092, was released as a preview at the end of January. While this update was intended to address various issues, such as compatibility problems with certain Citrix software, the emergence of printers spewing out random characters and network commands was an unforeseen consequence.

Microsoft has identified that the malfunction primarily affects USB-connected dual-mode printers that support both USB Print and Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) over USB. The company described the peculiar output as including incomprehensible text mixed with network directives and unusual symbols.
